Serious Sam: Shatterverse Brings Co-Op Roguelite Mayhem to PC and Consoles This August

The Serious Sam franchise is taking a multiversal twist. Behaviour Interactive, the studio behind Dead by Daylight, has announced Serious Sam: Shatterverse—a cooperative roguelite spin on the classic FPS series launching August 31 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Players looking to jump in early can join an open playtest currently live on Steam.

In Shatterverse, series antagonist Mental has shattered the walls between dimensions. To repair reality, alternate versions of Sam from across the multiverse must team up to battle through shifting universes and defeat Mental's five lieutenants. The game pairs the franchise's iconic backpedaling, horde-clearing gunplay with modern roguelite progression.

Here are the key features packed into Serious Sam: Shatterverse:

  • Multiversal Co-Op Combat: Team up with alternate Sams to slaughter massive hordes of classic franchise enemies and brand-new monsters.

  • Procedural Roguelite Runs: Navigate randomized runs built from hand-crafted arenas, featuring unpredictable anomalies, hidden portals, and high-risk encounters.

  • Expanding Progression: Earn permanent upgrades, unlock new modifiers, and power up future runs.

  • Over-the-Top Arsenal: Combine classic Serious Sam heavy weaponry with all-new firearms plucked from across the multiverse.
