Outbound Wildlife Update Adds New Photography System and 34 Animal Species

The Wildlife Update for Outbound is now available on Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox, adding a new way for players to explore and document the game’s off-grid world.
The update expands the wildlife ecosystem with 34 unique animal species spread across the game’s four different biomes. Players can now discover these animals and add them to their personal journal.
New Photography System
A new Wildlife Outpost can be found in the first biome, where players can download the blueprint for a craftable camera.
The camera comes with several photography settings, including:
Exposure/Brightness
Depth of Field and focus points
Saturation
Contrast
Zoom
Photos taken with the camera are automatically saved to the player’s Steam library and hard drive.

Track Animals in Your Journal
The camera can also automatically detect animals in view. By framing a species and taking a clear photo, players can register it as “collected” in a new section of the personal journal.
This gives players another reason to explore each biome and look for wildlife they have not documented yet.
Binoculars and More Building Options
The update also gives the binoculars found throughout the world a new purpose. They can now be used to view animals and other details from a distance when the camera’s zoom is not available.
Alongside the wildlife features, Outbound also receives a new wooden foundation with a fully closed wooden floor instead of slats. It is available immediately in the building menu without requiring a new blueprint.
Based on community feedback, the fishing interaction prompt will now only appear while the player is standing still. This keeps the HUD cleaner while exploring and walking through the water.
Two additional rear-view mirror Charms have also been added.

More Updates to Come
The developers confirmed that Outbound will continue receiving smaller patches with bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements between larger content updates.
The Wildlife Update is currently available on Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox. The update is also coming to Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, although its release has been slightly delayed.
