Echoes of Aincrad: Genesis Maidens DLC Launching Winter 2026

Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe has officially announced Genesis Maidens, the first major DLC expansion for the action JRPG Sword Art Online: Echoes of Aincrad. The expansion is set to release in Winter 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.

New Story & Returning Favorite Character

• Expanded Narrative & Map: Genesis Maidens introduces a fresh main storyline alongside new side quests that allow players to explore previously unseen areas across Floors 1 and 2 of the floating castle, Aincrad.

• Mito Joins the Party: The DLC introduces Misumi Tozawa (Mito) as a playable ally. Making her video game entrance from the Sword Art Online Progressive anime films, Mito joins the party to support players while confronting the guilt from her past actions.

Gameplay & Customization Upgrades

• New Weapon Type: Mito introduces the Curved Sword weapon category, featuring dedicated combination skills and specialized support abilities.

• Armor Enhancement System: A brand-new progression mechanic allows players to upgrade their armor sets with passive effects, opening up expanded options for character builds and combat specialization.

• Core Combat Dynamics: Combat continues to focus on Echoes of Aincrad’s core mechanics—including custom character progression, precise dodging and parrying, and the strategic Switch System that lets allies step in to swap targets or battle independently.
