Dune: Awakening Hits Consoles with Full Single-Player Mode This September 🏜️

Funcom’s open-world survival epic expands to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, bringing a complete solo experience and the Book One finale.
OSLO, NORWAY — Funcom has officially announced that Dune: Awakening, its open-world survival game heavily inspired by Frank Herbert’s novels and Denis Villeneuve’s cinematic blockbusters, is launching on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on September 22, 2026.
More than a simple port, the September update marks a massive milestone for the game. Funcom is combining a year’s worth of PC player feedback and updates with a wave of brand-new features to deliver the definitive, refined version of Arrakis simultaneously to console and PC players alike.
🕹️ Complete Solo Play & Scalable Difficulty
The absolute headline feature arriving alongside the console launch is a highly requested, fully realized Single-Player Mode.
The Solo Experience: Play through the entirety of Arrakis completely by yourself. Every NPC, point of interest, and challenge remains, but the world is yours alone. Plus, your bases built in the Deep Desert will never be completely wiped by the Coriolis Storm.
Total Customization: Take control of your sandbox with scalable difficulty sliders. You can manually tweak harvesting rates, experience gain, and enemy combat difficulty to perfectly tailor your survival journey.
Story Complete: The update delivers the grand finale of Book One, allowing solo and multiplayer fans to experience the cinematic storyline from its opening moments to its dramatic conclusion.
🎮 Console Performance & Xbox Game Pass
Funcom has optimized the experience from top to bottom for the couch setup, including custom-mapped controller layouts and a streamlined console UI. The game will target a smooth 60fps on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X in Performance Mode.
Xbox players have even more reason to celebrate: Dune: Awakening will be available on Xbox Game Pass on day one (September 22). The game also supports Xbox Play Anywhere, enabling cross-play and cross-progression between Xbox consoles and the Microsoft PC Store. Additionally, the game is Steam Deck verified and fully playable via GeForce Now and Xbox Cloud Gaming.
🛡️ One Year of PC Upgrades and Beyond
Players diving into Arrakis this September will benefit from a year's worth of sweeping systemic overhauls built on PC community feedback:
Optional PvP: Players can opt into full PvE multi-player environments, making PvP entirely optional across the entire map, including the Deep Desert.
No More Progress Loss: Thanks to new vehicle backup and base reconstruction systems, multiplayer characters can take extended breaks from the game without losing their hard-earned progression.
Late-Game & QoL Overhauls: Enjoy a rebuilt, richer endgame loop, private self-hosted servers for PC, character re-customization, and the removal of in-game taxes.
Looking past September, Funcom has already teased its next massive free content update arriving later this year: The Polar Cap, a freezing new glacial biome located at the pole of Arrakis that will introduce entirely new freezing hazards and survival mechanics.
