Onimusha: Way of the Sword™ Slashes Into September 25 🥷

Capcom’s legendary samurai saga returns with a release date, a fully playable demo out today, and a fated duel at Kiyomizu-dera.

SAN FRANCISCO — Fresh out of PlayStation’s June State of Play broadcast, Capcom has officially announced that Onimusha: Way of the Sword™ will launch worldwide on September 25, 2026. The blood-soaked swordplay epic is sharpening its blades for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and Windows.

🏔️ Mount Oe and the Awakening of an Oni

A striking new cinematic trailer has given fans a first look at Mount Oe, a perilous mountain fortress outside of early Edo-period Kyoto. The stronghold has been overrun by a colossal Genma claiming to be the legendary demon lord, Shuten Doji.

The footage features protagonist Miyamoto Musashi (modeled after the legendary Toshiro Mifune) shredding his way through the Genma garrison. Wielding supernatural agility and raw physical power to bypass the fortress’ deadly defenses, the trailer culminates in a jaw-dropping look at Musashi fully transforming into an awakened Oni Warrior.

The free Onimusha: Way of the Sword demo is available right now on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store).

• The Mission: Explore the historic, twisted ruins of Kyoto's Kiyomizu-dera Temple and test your blade-on-blade reflexes against Musashi's iconic, fated rival: Sasaki Ganryu.

• The Bonus: Anyone who plays the early demo will automatically unlock the exclusive "Kubi Akari" Charm as a bonus reward when the full game launches this September.

🖥️ PC Note: Capcom points out that this early demo's performance does not fully represent the final code. An official PC Benchmark tool will launch at a later date to give PC players a precise estimate of how the retail version will run on their rigs.
