Crimson Desert Confirmed for Gamescom 2026 Showcase

Pearl Abyss has announced its plans for Gamescom 2026, where the studio will showcase its open-world action-adventure game Crimson Desert alongside Samsung Electronics.
From August 26–30, visitors will be able to experience the world of Pywel through a dedicated booth featuring gameplay demos, developer presentations, and special activities.
Crimson Desert Playable at Samsung Booth
The game will be showcased at Samsung’s gaming hardware booth in Hall 09.1, Stand B020–C029, where attendees can experience Crimson Desert on the latest gaming monitor technology.
The showcase will feature:
Hands-on gameplay sessions.
Live stage presentations.
Exclusive merchandise giveaways.
Photo opportunities.
Cosplayer appearances inspired by characters from the game.
Players will experience the game using Samsung’s 32-inch Odyssey G8 gaming monitor, featuring:
6K resolution at 165Hz.
3K resolution at 330Hz for high-speed gameplay.
Pearl Abyss Reveals Crimson Desert Development Insights
Before Gamescom, Pearl Abyss will also participate in Gamescom Dev, one of Europe’s largest game development conferences, taking place from August 23–25 in Cologne.
The studio will host two technical presentations focused on the technology and creative process behind Crimson Desert.
Building the World of Pywel
The first session, “How We Filled the Vast Continent of Pywel,” will explore how Pearl Abyss created the game’s massive open world.
The presentation will cover:
World-building techniques.
How exploration influenced environmental design.
Automated tools used to create large-scale environments.
Balancing terrain, vegetation, landmarks, and environmental storytelling.
Creating a Living Open World With BlackSpace Engine
The second session, “Scaling Open World Creation in Crimson Desert with an In-House Engine,” will focus on Pearl Abyss’ proprietary BlackSpace Engine.
Developers will discuss:
Creating realistic and dynamic environments.
Building large-scale worlds with detailed ecosystems.
Procedural terrain generation.
Biome-based systems for efficient world creation.
Maintaining artistic direction across different regions.
The presentations will be hosted by members of Pearl Abyss’ development team, including:
Geun-tae Ahn – Senior Leader of the Art Level Division.
Jin-hwan Kim – Senior Leader of the Game Engine Graphics Division.
Jin-ho Yoon – Senior Leader of the Game Engine Graphics Division.
Crimson Desert Achieves Major Sales Milestone
Following its launch in March, Crimson Desert has sold more than 6 million copies worldwide within its first three months, marking a major milestone for Pearl Abyss.
Crimson Desert is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
