Battlefield REDSEC Adds Rapid Royale, Proximity Chat, and $1.5M Tournament Circuit

Battlefield Studios has announced a major wave of updates for Battlefield REDSEC, headlined by the upcoming Rapid Royale mode, the debut of proximity chat, and an expanded esports calendar boasting over $1.48 million in total prizing.
New Features & Game Modes
Proximity Chat (Launching September 15): The first iteration of local voice communication lands directly in Battle Royale. Designed to foster unpredictable player-driven interactions, Battlefield Studios will gather immediate feedback on audio clarity, range, moderation tools, and overall gameplay impact before expanding the feature to other modes.
Rapid Royale Mode (Season 5): Built for faster-paced engagements, this new Battle Royale variant features reduced player counts, smaller play spaces, accelerated circle timers, and shorter overall match lengths to keep action constant.

Competitive Ecosystem & Tournament Schedule
Battlefield REDSEC is expanding its structured esports path across three major regions: APAC, EMEA, and the Americas.
Season 4 Cash Cups (Sept. 19 – Oct. 10): Weekly Battle Royale tournaments offering a $150,000 USD total prize pool split equally ($50,000 USD) across all three regions as a warm-up for official circuit play.
Open Series (Oct. 24 – Nov. 21): A three-event open tournament serving as the proving ground for the Elite Series. Up to 384 teams per region will compete in 24-team lobbies over two-day events, with the top 12 advancing each round.
Elite Series Return (Dec. 4, 2026 – Jan. 16, 2027): The pinnacle of REDSEC competition returns in Season 5 with a $1,338,000 USD global prize pool ($446,000 USD per region). Returning legacy teams will clash alongside new qualifiers emerging directly from the Open Series.
