Virtue and a Sledgehammer Is Out Now on PC

Virtue and a Sledgehammer, a new narrative-driven game from Deconstructeam and Selkie Harbour, published by Devolver Digital, is now available on PC via Steam for $14.99.

The game follows a character returning to their hometown, only to discover that the people they once knew have been replaced by robotic imitations. As the town insists on maintaining peace, the protagonist responds with a sledgehammer, tearing through its steel inhabitants and stone structures while confronting the painful memories of their past.

A Story About Family, Anger, and Love

Beyond its destructive gameplay, Virtue and a Sledgehammer explores complicated family relationships, unresolved trauma, and the emotions that come with returning home. Players will work through the protagonist's anger and personal struggles as they decide what it means to face the past.

Jordi de Paco, creative director at Deconstructeam, described the game as a risky project that deals with difficult family dynamics and pent-up rage. Despite its harsh themes, he explained that the story is ultimately about love, with the team hoping to create an experience that makes players think and feel, even if it upsets them.

Deconstructeam is known for games such as The Red Strings Club and The Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood, while Selkie Harbour previously developed Many Nights a Whisper.
