Santa Monica Studio has announced that God of War Laufey has been delayed. Originally set to launch on February 16, 2027, the upcoming PlayStation 5 exclusive will now arrive on May 20, 2027.
The studio confirmed the change on November 4, saying the extra development time will allow the team to add finishing touches and make the game as polished as possible.
Why Has God of War Laufey Been Delayed?
In its announcement, Santa Monica Studio thanked fans for their excitement since the game was revealed in June. The developers said they want to make the most of the additional time to finish the experience properly.
The new date pushes the release back by just over three months. The studio also said it will share more updates with fans soon.
Faye Takes Center Stage
God of War Laufey follows Faye, the wife of Kratos and mother of Atreus. After her death, she awakens in the Everywhen, a mysterious afterlife where gods from different mythologies fight for power.
To protect her family, Faye must explore this dangerous world and uncover its secrets. Her adventure brings a different perspective to the God of War series, with fast and fluid combat, powerful magic, and battles that move between the ground and air.
New Release Date and Platform
God of War Laufey is now scheduled to release exclusively on PlayStation 5 on May 20, 2027. No other platform has been announced.
