Final Fantasy VII Revelation Revealed for Spring 2027!
The epic remake journey is finally reaching its destination. At Summer Game Fest 2026, Square Enix officially announced Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the third and final entry in the highly acclaimed Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy.
In a massive win for gamers everywhere, this grand finale will launch simultaneously across all major platforms in Spring 2027, perfectly aligning with the 30th anniversary of the original 1997 landmark game.
The Story: A Race Against Time
Following the emotional events of the previous chapters, Cloud Strife and his loyal allies face a world teetering on the edge of total destruction. Grieving the loss of a beloved friend, the party must stick together as their ultimate enemy, Sephiroth, gets closer to becoming a god.
To stop him, the team takes to the skies on the iconic airship, the Highwind. Together, they must race against the clock to stop Meteor—the ultimate destructive magic—and save the planet from total annihilation. According to the game's creators, players will make decisions throughout the story that can impact different aspects of the characters' journeys.
Key Game Features & New Mechanics
Final Fantasy VII Revelation is expanding the gameplay of the first two titles while adding massive new features:
A World Without Boundaries: The entire planet is fully and freely explorable. Using the Highwind airship, players can fly anywhere, parachute out of the sky at any moment, and transition seamlessly from the air to the ground.
Divide and Conquer: Because the planet is facing threats from descending Meteors and terrifying giant Weapons, the party will need to split up. Players can choose where to go, who to help, and in what order to tackle the planet's conflicts.
Vincent and Cid are Playable: Fans can finally take control of two legendary heroes. Vincent Valentine is a swift gunslinger who can transform into ferocious beasts to wreck the battlefield. Cid Highwind is a grumpy pilot who uses a lance for powerful single-target strikes and sweeping area attacks.
The FITS System: A brand-new feature that lets you equip unique outfits on your characters. These outfits grant entirely new movesets inspired by classic Final Fantasy jobs, such as the Black Mage and Warrior.
Perfected Combat: The game features the return of the series' celebrated hybrid battle system, which lets you seamlessly switch between fast-paced, real-time action and the strategic Tactical Mode.
New Locations: Explore iconic areas reimagined in stunning detail, including the sun-drenched Mideel archipelago, the warrior nation of Wutai, and the frozen wastes of the Northern Continent.
