Dragon Quest Surpasses 100 Million Sales

Square Enix has announced that the Dragon Quest franchise has surpassed 100 million units sold worldwide, marking a major milestone during the series' 40th anniversary year.

Since the original Dragon Quest launched in Japan in 1986, the franchise has grown into one of the most recognizable JRPG series in the world, with 11 mainline titles, numerous spin-offs, and adaptations across anime, films, novels, manga, and merchandise.

The series has become known for its accessible gameplay, memorable characters and monsters, distinctive visuals, and iconic music, helping establish many of the elements associated with JRPGs today.

The game reimagines Akira Toriyama's character designs in a handcrafted 3D style, alongside diorama-inspired environments, streamlined exploration, and an expanded narrative.
