Devolver Reveals Dark Scrolls Coming to PC and Switch
Dark Scrolls is an old-school game about exploring dungeons. It has many strange people to meet and is coming soon to PCs and the Nintendo Switch.
The team at Doinksoft, who made Gato Roboto and Gunbrella, has a new game called Dark Scrolls. It is a fast, pixel-art game where you explore dungeons. It mixes hard shooting action with a path that gets stronger as you play.
Go on a mission to [INSERT GOAL HERE] with a strange hero. You can play by yourself or with friends at home or online. Use your weapons and special moves to fight monsters and avoid traps. The rooms change every time you play, so it is always a new adventure.
Gameplay:
Move Fast: You must think and move quickly to stay safe as the game gets harder.
New Paths: Every turn brings new surprises and very tough bosses to fight.
Shop for Help: Collect coins to buy new powers and pets at Bruce & Goose's Shoppe.
Get Stronger: If you pick the right items, you will become strong enough to clear the whole screen at once.
"Whenever I search for ‘roguelike’ I don’t find what I’m looking for,” says Doinksoft’s Cullen Dwyer. “I get a poker game or a pachinko game or a heartfelt narrative about a Greek god or a Yu-Gi-Oh! card game. How are those at all like a 1980s turn-based, grid-locked dungeon crawler that you can play in the command line with vim control bindings? They have ‘randomness’? Pathetic. And here I am, part of the problem. Might as well call it a Metroidvania too.”
