Battlefield Studios has revealed a series of major gameplay updates coming to Battlefield 6 and Battlefield REDSEC with Season 5, which also marks the beginning of the games' second year of content.

The upcoming changes focus on improving combat, vehicle balance, gunplay, and several quality-of-life features, with the goal of making matches feel more dynamic and responsive.

Changes Coming to Battlefield 6 and REDSEC

Both experiences are receiving several adjustments to their core combat systems, including changes to vehicle health regeneration and damage.

These changes are designed to better reward infantry players who use good positioning and successful flanking tactics.

The anti-air systems are also being adjusted to create stronger interactions between aircraft and ground-based anti-air capabilities.

Gunplay is receiving additional tuning, including changes to weapon attachments aimed at creating more gameplay variety. Certain weapon, gadget, and character animations will also receive polish.

Vehicle balance is being adjusted as part of the wider combat rework.

Battle Royale Improvements

Battlefield REDSEC is also receiving several changes specifically focused on its Battle Royale experience.

Ranked matchmaking bands are being improved to create more accurate skill brackets, while a new reconnect feature will allow players who unexpectedly crash or disconnect to return to ongoing matches.

Casual Battle Royale will also introduce Recommended Drop Zones, giving newer players suggested points of interest and nearby loot while helping them avoid immediate squad conflicts.

Armor mechanics are being adjusted as well, with armor application and related speeds significantly increased.

Classes are receiving additional tweaks, while training paths have been rebalanced alongside further weapon balance changes.

More Changes Planned for Year 2

Season 5 is set to begin the second year of content for Battlefield 6 and REDSEC, but Battlefield Studios says the updates will continue throughout 2027.

The team plans to introduce more content while continuing to refine the core systems behind the Battlefield experience. Future work will include further improvements to vehicle gameplay and continued expansion of the gunplay systems.

Battlefield Studios is also continuing to gather feedback through Battlefield Labs and live-game feedback as development continues.
